The Heritage Commission signs MoU with ASFAR, the Saudi Tourism Investment Company, to revive cultural heritage sites in the Kingdom

The Heritage Commission and ASFAR, the Saudi tourism investment company wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at bolstering collaboration between the two entities to elevate and enrich the visitor experience at promising cultural heritage sites across the Kingdom.

Dr. Jasser bin Suleiman Al-Harbash, CEO of the Heritage Commission, and Dr. Fahad bin Mushayt, CEO of ASFAR, attended the signing ceremony.

This agreement marks a significant step towards advancing the strategic objectives of both entities and expanding collaborative opportunities to foster the development of upcoming projects. It also aims to enhance the efficiency of their operations, while boosting cooperation between the two parties in preparations of plans, refining preliminary designs, and establishing operational models for heritage sites across the Kingdom.

The Heritage Authority has officially affirmed that its proactive engagement in forging partnerships with diverse sectors is integral to its commitment to advancing the national heritage and archaeology sector. This initiative is aimed at realizing its strategic objectives in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the national cultural strategy emanating from it.

ASFAR is taking on a fundamental role in defining and shaping the tourism landscape of the Kingdom. This objective will be realized through investments in tourist destinations, significant historical and cultural sites, and an unwavering commitment to fostering a comprehensive tourism ecosystem throughout the Kingdom. By collaborating with both public and private sectors, ASFAR seeks to elevate the standing of promising Saudi cities on the tourism map. This MoU comes as part of a series of successful partnerships since ASFAR’s inception.
